WW2 Royal Navy - Woven Cloth Shoulder Title

In good condition (a little bit wrinkled), hessian backed. Authorised for wear on battledress in June 1941, replaced with a printed version in April 1943. initially worn by RN Beachmasters and with a separate supplementary Commando title by RN Commando units on battledress. Rare.

Removed from uniform. The paper packing cloth is unusual in that it reveals the makers name, 'Gwendyr Make' which suggests a Welsh manufacturer. A search on line shows they made items high quality embroidered items for the US forces stationed in the UK during WW2 and well as items for the Royal Navy and RAF both during and after WW2. Indian Army - CLH Calcutta Light Horse Brass Shoulder Title

The Calcutta Light Horse was raised in 1872 and formed part of the Cavalry Reserve in the British Indian Army. The regiment was disbanded following India's independence in 1947. This is very nicely cast with two small original lugs to the reverse. Of good quality, possibly officers' issue.
