WW1 The Wounded Stripe - No 4 Provisional Patent
Complete with backing plate, cotter pin and two original lugs. This is exactly 2 inches in length and was authorised for wear by Army Order 249 of August 1916 and this was only issued in this size up to 1922 (discontinued for wear on uniform by Army Order 434 of 1922).
Wound stripes issued in WW2 were only 1.5 inches in length.

Each circa 3.2cms tall with two original loops to the reverse of each. In very good condition. Sometimes found with the protruding gun barrels removed but these are intact. Die struck with a pickled copper finish. A good matching pair. Scarce.
