Circa 15mm in diameter, fixed shank and maker marked J.H. Johnson & Co. An early looking semi-domed button possibly for wear on officer 's cap. This maker was based in Aligarh, India. Worn circa 1903 to 1947. Scarce. Some wear to finish.  read more

Small button, now missing shank, metal dectecting find. Circa 15.5mm in diameter. Darkened from being in soil, but details still clear. Possibly other units would fit the bill, but certainly a yeomanry item from circa 1793 - 1820.

Taunton ( Somerset ) Volunteers Tunic Button, circa 1794 - 1802 ( Revolutionary / Napoleonic Wars)

Scarce, circa 22mm in diameter. Flat button with shank still in tact but fragile and with one crack. Excavated condition, but better than one usually finds. Some small splits, copper, would originally have been gilt washed. Worn circa 1794 - 1802. Detail in part is feint and it is hard to read the motto strap below the crown and my thanks to Kevin for confirming that from an example known...  read more
