Georgian / Napoleonic Wiltshire Yeomanry Cavalry Officer's Silver Plated Open Backed Tunic Coatee Button
Circa 18.5mm in diameter, fixed shank, silver plate in superb condition with slight edge wear. Maker marked Mark Sanders & Co (based in Birmingham). Unit formed 30 June 1794. A reasonably large corps, with circa 30 officers in 1797.
Similar to the button in Ripley & Darmanin fig 227 but with the addition of Wiltshire below the Georgian crown.

Georgian Napoleonic Royal Regiment of Artillery Officer's Gilt Two Piece Construction Tunic Coatee Button
This button displays the Ordnance arms. Circa 20.5mm in diameter, it is slightly convex and of two part metal construction with original shank to reverse and a blow hole to reverse for heat expansion when the two parts were braised together. Gilt mainly back to vase copper alloy to front but in very good condition for age. This pattern was worn in the second incarnation of the Volunteer movement from 1803 - 1808.
