An original sepia full length portrait of a Royal Naval officer of the civil branch, either a Fleet Paymaster or Fleet Surgeon judging from the three equal rings on his cuff. Flat tape confirms civil branch. He wears a single campaign medal with clasps. As to which campaign it represents I cannot determine. WW2 South - Eastern Command (United Kingdom) Painted Cloth Formation Sign
At first glance an unusual choice for this part of the UK, but apparently the tiger roaring in defiance was due to the Command faced the German--held French Channel Coast. Disbanded at the end of 1944. In very good condition.
