7th Middlesex Rifle (London Scottish) Volunteers Other Ranks White Metal Large Pattern Button, Kings Crown (1902 - 1908)

Circa 23mm in diameter, original shank and maker marked Firmin & Sons Ld, London. The version with the QVC crown is almost always the one encountered. After 1907, the button bore the upright lion as per the cap badge design (see Ripley No 434).

A matched pair in very good condition, hessian backed. Some traces of bluetack to the reverse.

The regiment was formed on the 1st July 1958 by the amalgamation of the East Lancashire Regiment and the South Lancs Regiment ( The Prince of Wales' s Volunteers ). Scarce.

Die cast sterling silver with two original silver loops to the reverse. Circa 3cms wide and 3cms tall. Birmingham Hallmarks for 1946 (date letter W) and maker marked JRG & S (JR Gaunt & Sons, London). Most likely a collar but also facing correct way for wear on the cap or side cap. King's crown. A scarce and unusual find, a commecially produced (registered design stamped to reverse strut) menu holder in the form of an enamelled CEF Cap Badge above a pair of rifles as legs, with a hoop to the reverse to hold either a place card or menu.
