45th Regiment of Foot (Derbyshire Regiment / Sherwood Forresters) Brass Glengarry Badge Converted into Mess Menu Holder
A genuine example with lugs removed (they were north - south) and expertly attached permanently to a brass menu ring stand which has an upright ring for holding the menu card / place setting name card. The crown shaped back to facilitate holding the paper card in place. Probably graced the tables of the 1st Battalion's Regimental Mess post 1881. Some traces of dried polish. A very attractive little box, well made from Oak and attractively hand carved with the regimental badge of the Royal Berkshire Regiment. Pivot lid with plenty of space to store whatever you wish, mementoes. badges, medals, but most probably originally intended for storing cigarettes. SIH South Irish Horse (Yeomanry) Brass Shoulder Title
Not illustrated in Westlake, but mentioned on p17. Most probably worn 1908 until disbandment in 1922. In very good condition with two original loops to the reverse. Rare.
Raised in March 1900 as South Irish Horse. Renamed in 1902 as the South of Ireland Yeomanry. Reverted back to the South Irish Horse in 1908. Disbanded in 1922.

Three original hexagonal fixings to reverse. In very good condition. As worn on Service Dress. Two types of brass so possibly a marriage / REME workshop production, but neatly done so looks right to me.
