WW2 South Africa - Regiment Botha (Commando) Regiment Theatre Cast Cap Badge

Presumably a WW2 North African cast copy, theatre made, with two tomb stone style loops (one slightly damaged).

Regiment Botha was formed on 1st April 1934 at Ermelo and recruited in the then-northern and eastern Transvaal. By 1939 there were two battalions but only the second was mobilised on 19th June, 1940.

This pattern worn believed to have been worn from 1947 - 1956. The pre 1947 version had a Sikh quoit incorporated into the design in place of the star now central to this example.
