54th Shropshire Militia Large Pattern Other Ranks Open Back Button - Firmin

Circa 21mm in diameter, original fixed shank, maker marked Firmin & Sons London. A pewter other ranks button in superb condition for age. Worn circa 1833 - 1855.

Circa 19mm in diameter, fixed shank (slightly twisted to one side), an attractive open-backed convex button, with an incised design. Maker marked Firmin & Westall, Strand (dates from 1794 - 1812 when Firmin & Westall were one company). In super condition for age. A real cracker. A pre 1813 as termed the Royal Sherwood Foresters Nottinghamshire Militia from that date onwards. Rare.

Taunton ( Somerset ) Volunteers Tunic Button, circa 1794 - 1802 ( Revolutionary / Napoleonic Wars)

Scarce, circa 22mm in diameter. Flat button with shank still in tact but fragile and with one crack. Excavated condition, but better than one usually finds. Some small splits, copper, would originally have been gilt washed. Worn circa 1794 - 1802. C24mm in diameter, fixed shank and maker marked Firmin & Sons, 153 Strand & 13 Conduit Street London. Gilt bright, in superb condition. QVC crown and VR monogram to centre of garter strap. This pattern from 1855 - 1902.

This style of maker naming used between 1856 - 1860 only making this a scrace button.
