A fabulous and clear image of the officer's and CSMs of this DLI cap badge wearing Home Guard Battalion, and ranks and signatures have been attached to the image. The names given have enabled he to ascertain that these are the commanders of the 14th Battalion who had their HQ at Houghton-Le-Spring. WW1 Bombardment of the Hartlepools 6th December 1914 Damage to Moor Terrace plus trench manned by the Royal Engineers
Postally unused with minor corner wear. Evidence of having been removed from an album. Contemporary hand to the reverse identifies the largest house in the image as being called Greencliffe, which was occupied by army officer's and the sandbag wall below was a trench manned by the Royal Engineers. Legitimate military targets after all it would appear!
