In Memoriam Printed Card for the Loss of the British Airship R101 - includes Roll of Honour
The R101 airship crashed in France during its maiden overseas voyage on 5 October 1930, killing 48 of the 54 people on board. Curiously, the memoriam card states only 47 killed, including crew and passengers. The killed included Lord Thomson, Air Minister and Sir Sefton Brancker, Air Vice Marshal of the RAF. No 11 in the series of twelve large scale foldable maps covering France and Belgium, this one covering the Lens area which included Arras, Bapaume and of course Lens. Map itself is clean and intact, the linen covers are grubby from service use and foxed with age. It is not a trench map as it does not have trenches marked on it.

29377 Sgt H. Watson 2-DAC AIF Enlisted in Feb 1916, with pre war militia service. Went to France in 1916, and had field service until the end of war. Noted in his papers that he allowed 2 committed prisoners to escape in late 1918! Also noted he served heavy guns, including Howitzers. Great actions, including Somme offensive and Hindenburg line.
