The 1st to 9th Battalions of the Sussex Volunteer Regiment became the 1st to 6th Volunteer Battalions of the Royal Sussex Regiment in 1918.

Scarce WW I brass cap badge with the loops neatly replaced by a stout brooch pin fitting to the reverse as worn by the 31st (Tadcaster) West Riding Ambulance Unit, possibly adapted for wear on a nurse's apron given they had female nurses attached to the unit. A small attractive King's Crown enamelled unmarked silver lapel badge for the Officer's Training Corps (OTC). Made by J.R. Gaunt, London. In good condition complete with a lapel button-hole fixing. No damage to enamel. Registered design number 627163 to reverse, which gives this design a registration date of between 1913 and 1914.

A good cast iron example in NEF condition in original card box of issue. Some wear to box but still presentable. Medal is the British propaganda variety with 5 May 1915 as made by Selfridges for the government, proceeds going to the St Dunstan's blind veterans' charity. A photocopy of the certificate which accompanied the medal will be provided.
