A simply magnificent Postally unused postcard in very good condition showing the Regimental Sergeant Major ( RSM )wearing the Fox in full cry cap badge on peaked cap, four chevrons and King's crown above, plus a row of medal ribbons, suggesting prior regular army service. Malacca Volunteer Rifles Brass Collar Badge, circa 1915 - 1942
Die struck collar badge. The two scrolls beneath read Malacca Volunteer Rifles, Firm but Few. Two original copper lugs to the reverse. Circa 3.2cm tall. In good condition with sharp detail. Scarce.
Of Straits Settlements and Malay States interest, now Singapore and Malaysia. Malacca was a Malay enclave.

Backmarked JR Gaunt Ld, London. Original floating shank. Dated 1914 to front. Circa 19mm in diameter. Slight polishing to high points otherwise in very good condition and scarce.

Kitchener's Army and the Territorial Forces, by Edgar Wallace - a large hardback book published circa 1915
188 pages. profusely illustrated with black and white photos. It has a small number of colour plates. There is no date of publication, but given it is all about the training of this army, it suggests late 1915. Circa 28cm by 21.5cm.
Condition is poor as the spine has separated from the book and a few pages are loose, but all present and correct and contents clean and undamaged. ... read more
WW2 Territorial Army Silver Mufti Lapel Badge
Sanctioned for wear in 1938, and made by Royal Mint, this badge consisted of the letters TA between two horizontal lines across the centre of a circle. Below the circle is a lion springing aggressively forward with legs outstretched, the whole being surmounted by a king's crown. Dark toned BWM with original ribbon, sek, otherwise NEF. Correctly impressed to:
" T.Z. 8693 N.J. Watson. A.B. R.N.V.R."
The WW1 rot proof fibre disc has the same details but with the addition of "Pres" ( Presbyterian ) and the letters R.N.D. for Royal Naval Division

WW1 Victory Medal ( VM ) Army Service Corps ( ASC ) to Acting CQMS John G Watson
VM has some black stains to it, replacement ribbon. Rim correctly impressed:

MIC confirms his entitlement to a BWM & VM pair only, and his forename as John. Unusual prefix ( DM2 ), which according to Wilkinson was only found on ASC medals to Driver Mechanics. However, another source states is stands for "M... read more

This is the 3rd edition, hard backed and 437pp, so heavy. At the time of publication the Orient Line comprised of the following stream ships: SS Austral, Chimborazo, Cuzco, Garonne, Iberia, Liguria, Lusitania, Orient, Ormuz, Orizaba and Oroya. A real treat for anybody interested in the history of the P&O. Some wear from being well travelled, but in generally good condition for age.
