A clay pipe-bowl in the form of the bust of a CIV Trooper in slouch-hat (no stem). Tobacco / smoked stained patina to clay, with some old chips and chunks out of slouch hat. London made and marked. Scarce.

The design for this badge was not fixed until late November 1914 by the Tyneside Scottish Committee, and was replaced by the more imposing 2nd pattern badge in January 1915. A very nice pair with two original loops to the reverse. A good match from the front, slightly different from the rear. Worn pre-1897, but also formed part of shoulder titles post that date for Volunteer Battalions to 1908 and 'walking-out' shoulder titles for Territorial Battalions until 1920. Also worn by Volunteer Artillery.

Georgian / Napoleonic Andover Loyal Volunteers (Hampshire) Gilt Tunic Coatee Button
Circa 20mm in diameter, fixed shank, open-backed convex button, with a Georgian crown to centre and Andover Loyal Volunteers surrounding, milled edge. Maker marked Mills & Co, London. Gilt mainly back to vase copper alloy to front but in very good condition for age. This pattern was worn in the second incarnation of the Volunteer movement from 1803 - 1808.

Circa 18mm in diameter, silver plated, fixed shank (slightly bent over), blank reverse, small ding to right of crown. Otherwise in good worn condition and rare. Worn until 1808 when they were absorbed in to the Local Militia.
