A first pattern SWB officially impressed 701 (the lowest number I have yet handled) awarded to 7749 Private Harry Brown of the Yorkshire Regiment. An unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. Unmarked silver SWB, dark toned with reverse stamped B253046 with original pin and clasp. Complete with copy MIC and SWB roll entry, which confirms the recipient as No 275966 Pte William Douglas who was entitled to the 1914-15 star trio and that he first served overseas in Egypt on 15th September 1915 with the 5th / 6th Royal Scots (Territorial Force). The Border Regiment (34th & 55th Foot) - QVC Victorian Smaller Pattern Other Ranks White Metal Cap Badge
Die struck, with retaining original brass strips holding original red felt backing to centre but with what look like two replacement long copper loops. Nicely done, but I do not consider these to be the original loops, otherwise a verv fine looking badge. Circa 4.2cm tall. Also worn with a king's crown post 1902.
