Devon Special Constable Constabulary Police Enamel & Gilt Lapel Buttonhole Mufti Badge
Post 1926 pattern, in very good condition with no damage to the enamel and original horseshoe fitting, maker marked JR Gaunt & Son, London. Slight mark to gilt on top right of shield otherwise gilt bright and in good condition. A fairly large badge at circa 4.7cms across, with original slider and some service wear to the black finish, giving it an attractive patina. "South Africa" and "1900 - 1902" to the arms of the cross. In very good condition.

4th, 5th, 6th and 7th (Territorial) Battalions Essex Regiment Bi-Metal Cap Badge with South Africa Scroll
A good worn example with scroll "South Africa 1900 - 02" below, two original loops and three sweat/ braising/ expansion holes to the reverse. Blank seeded tablet below the sphinx. The white metal overlays appear to have been silver plated. Most probably an officer's cap badge. A cracker!

A tragic reminder of the perils of being at sea, L24 was lost with all hands off Portland Bill following a collision with HMS Resolution on 10th January 1924, also depicted. Postally unused and in good condition.
