Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS) Brass Rank Star Arm Badge, pre -1915
A brass appointment sleeve badge worn above four inverted chevrons by a R.Q.M.S. in the form of a rose to the centre of an eight-pointed star with two original lugs to the reverse (slightly flattened for comfort). Introduced in 1881. Obsolete from 1915 onwards as replaced by a crown. Scarce. Circa 3.6cm across.

Traditionally Pioneers of the Grenadier Guards and Fusilier Regiments wore a grenade above crossed hatches / axes (See 7A in Edwards & Langley). Worn by the pioneers of Infantry regiments, typically about 11 individuals per battalion. Some wore an additional device above, Grenadier Guards and Fusilier Regiments a plain grenade, Light Infantry Regiments a bugle and the other Guards regiments had their own distinctions.
