Army Pipers Proficency Badge, three drones
This is not your typical pattern (see item 54159 to see the typical pattern). It has three drones so I believe this is Scottish rather than Irish, but happy to be corrected. Circa 6cm tall and 4.4cm wide, with two original lugs to the reverse. In very good condition.

A die cast pair of trumpets, with two original loops, thick brass backing plate and cotter pin. Usually found in brass or gliding metal but these have been nickel plated to give a white metal finish. Introduced in 1879 and withdrawn from wear in 1909 (I can confirm this for definite as I have a sealed pattern of this item in my own collection and it has been annotated as such).
