WW1 Bombardment of Hartlepool 1914 commemorative Gilt and Enamel Pin Brooch Badge 1917
A scarce gilt metal and enamel badge issued by the Hartlepool hospital fund every year of the great war 1914-1919 to raise funds and commemorate the bombardment of Hartlepool on December 16th 1914 by the German Navy. There were a number of different patterns. This one was issued for 1917, and the text is as follows:

.A very fine scarce die-stamped heavy and stiff yellow brass example. Elephant standing on scroll inscribed “British Asian”; palm trees in the background. Two loops to reverse (east - west).
