A brass appointment sleeve badge worn above four inverted chevrons by a R.Q.M.S. in the form of a rose to the centre of an eight-pointed star with two original lugs to the reverse. Introduced in 1881. Obsolete from 1915 onwards as replaced by a crown. Circa 3.6cm across. read more

4th Egyptian Infantry Headdress Brass Cap Badge
See Volume 2 of the highly recommended "British Colonial Badges Volume II" by Barry Renfrew et al, as item no 2294. Two original fixing posts to the reverse which have rusted. Circa 2.9cm tall. Missing its black square backing cloth. Circa 1890. May also have been worn by 4th Sudanese Infantry.
This pattern, but with different fixings was worn in brass by 4th KAR.
