A stunning item, cut from uniform of the commanding officer, in very good condition with only a few marks to the white backing felt and no damage to the bullion devices. Traces of bluetack to the reverse and somebody has annotated it in pen on the reverse as HLI.

A WWII economy plastic 'bakelite' issue kings crown cap badge, most often found with blades, but this is the much scarcer variety with a unique plastic slider fitting to the reverse,that bears makers details for 'JR&L Ltd B'Ham' (Jarrett, Rainsford & Laughton Ltd Birmingham). Very good clean condition, complete with original slider fitting, no warping, an excellent example with good lustre.

WW1 Single Bullion on Khaki Wound Stripe
The award of a wound stripe to a soldier was introduced in July 1916 it entitled the man to wear a two inch Russian gold bullion braid sewn to the left sleeve of a jacket, as this proved very hard to keep clean and shiny solid brass stripes replaced them, this indicates that this example is from early on in the Great War.
