5th Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (RNF) Officer's Mess Dress Button - Gaunt
Circa 16mm in diameter, fixed shank, maker marked JR Gaunt, London (this is difficult to read). Mounted button with Silver plated St George slaying the dragon facing right above a small V all encircled in a gilt motto scrap "quo fata vocant" (where the fates call). In superb condition. A later issue.

Two-part construction a facing pair shoulder titles as worn Officers and Warrant Officers from 1936 - 1968. In poor condition, polished detail and a replacement lug to reverse of each. One maker marked JR Gaunt London. Comes with brass backing plates. Condition reflected in price.

A brass badge as worn on the undress glengarry cap from 1874 - 1881. Originally raised in 1755, the 55th (Westmorland) Regiment's nickname was 'the Two Fives' after their numeral. A large domed badge with two original loops. Dark toned, some minor staining and signs of service wear to edges and loops but in generally good condition. Worn by junior cadets between the ages of 12 and 14. George V cypher so post 1911. After WW1 they tended to adopt the regimental badge of the unit to which they were affiliated. Circa 5cms tall.
