Circa 16mm in diameter, fixed shank, maker marked JR Gaunt, London (this is difficult to read). Mounted button with Silver plated St George slaying the dragon facing right above a small V all encircled in a gilt motto scrap "quo fata vocant" (where the fates call). In superb condition. A later issue.

A brass badge as worn on the undress glengarry cap from 1874 - 1881. Originally raised in 1755, the 55th (Westmorland) Regiment's nickname was 'the Two Fives' after their numeral.
