WW1 Postcard - Chisledon Camp, nr Swindon in Wiltshire
An amusing little ditty of a poem about life of army recruit at Chisledon Camp in Wiltshire printed on one side of a postcard, postally used in July 1916. Almost nothing remains of Chiseldon Camp in Wiltshire today. It was set up in 1914 as a training base for up to 10,000 troops at a time, before they went to the front.

A very light and die struck issue with three original lugs to the reverse. Worn circa 1898 until 1906 only. It was then replaced by a different pattern in brass. Also worn as the Sergeants and Senior Sergeants Arm badge.

A left facing die struck bronze metal collar badge with two original lugs to the reverse of each. According to the Museum, as cited by Churchill, they were unpopular with the Regiment and only worn for one year, 1881 - 1882, even though the pattern that replaced them was not sealed until 1887.
