Georgian / Napoloeonic Liverpool Fuzileers / Royal Liverpool Fuzileers / Second Battalion, Liverpool Volunteer Corps

Circa 18mm in diameter, silver plated, fixed shank (slightly bent over), blank reverse, small ding to right of crown. Otherwise in good worn condition and rare. Worn until 1808 when they were absorbed in to the Local Militia.

Georgian / Napoleonic Roxburgh Local Militia (Scotland) Officer's Gilt Tunic Coatee Button

Circa 17mm in diameter, domed open backed gilt button with original shank, blank reverse. Gilt bright (some minor wear) and very sharp detail - rare. Worn 1808-1815. Scottish Local Militia units absorbed many of the smaller local volunteer units in 1808.

Circa 16mm in diameter, domed open backed gilt button with original shank and maker marked C. Jennens, London. In superb condition and rare.

Rowlandson confirms the buttons were round and with the letters L I V in Cypher.

A favourite badge of mine, not immediately one that would be associated with the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers, but this was the badge worn on various forms of shoulder decoration by officers from 1836 until 1898. A few moth grazes especially to the rear cloth, hard to see in the photos, one larger hole to rear of one arm (see photo) and paper label all but gone. Impossible to date to either WW1 or WW2 as the raised foot of the lion was used on badges of the Tyneside Scottish in both of these wars.
