Kings Liverpool Regiment Officers 1878 Pattern Helmet Plate - King's Crown (modified)

A gilt plate, which has been professionally and contemporaneously adapted from a QVC example with a replacement King's Crown (some wear to gilt finish where this has been applied). Central device, has lost all of its silver plate and been cleaned back to its bronze base metal and is in very poor condition. Red velvet backing is worn, faded and also in need of some TLC. Three loops to reverse, but fixing nails for the mounted devices are missing and replaced with thin wire ties. So all in all, gilt is bright on the star and the bottom silver scroll is in good condition but dark toned. Crown neatly replaced, but could do with a new central device and new velvet and some better retaining pins, all of which would make it sing. SOLD AS SEEN - NO RETURNS on this item.
