A die struck example in bronze with two loops (one a contemporary replacement but neatly done) with a maker's tablet JR Gaunt /London (upside down). Some loss of detail from polishing and more obviously bronze from the reverse as a result. Scarce.

In good overall condition with two of two dark toned loops to the reverse. The bugle and garter pattern was replaced in 1895 with the plate with four stars. Very scarce brass cap badge with two loops to the reverse and makers details for Gaunt London, worn by the New Zealand Motor Reserve of Officers (only 178 officers).
