7th KAR Kings African Rifles Arabic Numeral Cap Badge - Zanzibar

Die cast with original long slider. Looks UK made. Scarce.

The 7th KAR was formed in Zanzibar in 1917 with men from the Zanzibar Armed Constabulary and the Mafia Constabulary. Post WW1, it was reduced to a company and then merged with the 6th KAR.

A pleasing browning brass example with two original loops to the reverse. Circa 47mm tall (the collars of the same pattern were worn in facing pairs but smaller at circa 29mm tall). Raised in the Toronto area and perpetuated by the Governor Generals Bodyguard. A later version had a scroll change (CMR as opposed to CMRR). Served on the Western Front in France.

Scarce 1902-08 Irish brass shoulder title. in very good condition, cut from thick sheet brass with two original loops to the rear. Raised in March 1900 as South Irish Horse. Renamed in 1902 as the South of Ireland Yeomanry. Reverted back to the South Irish Horse in 1908. Disbanded in 1922.
