The Royal Gambia Artillery were one of a number of units raised in the 1850s in West Africa, recruiting local men. It eventually became part of the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF).

Circa 21mm in diameter, fixed shank and gilt very bright. An early button with an unusual maker's / military retailer's mark to the reverse 'Bodley & Etty, London'. Some minor wear to gilt on the highpoints, otherwise in fabulous condition. Pre 1862.

An early excavated button, worn circa 1790 - 1800. Sadly no shank remaining but in good overall condition to front with silver plate in surprisingly good condition. The back is crusted so too hard to read the manufacturer's details. Circa 20.5mm in diameter. Rare.

A pair of gilt mufti blazer buttons, one 20.5mm and the other 14mm to the Northamptonshire Regiment, the number 48 in Roman numerals to centre of crowned garter, king's crown above and the battle honour Talavera on the garter. Larger one maker marked Pitt & Co, Maddox St, London. Some tarnishing otherwise reasonable condition.

A very scarce gilt button, two piece construction, fixed shank, back marked Jennens & Co, London. A small demi-ball button at circa 13mm in diameter. Gilt bright, in extremely good condition. The cypher on most of these buttons were extremely hard to read, but this one is simple with the letters KOR entwined below a Victorian crown.

Pair of WW1 era Veterinary Corps Officers Buttons, Large and Medium Brass Pattern
Circa 25mm and 19mm respectively, fixed shanks and each maker marked Armfield Ltd, Birmingham. Semi-domed, GV cypher, in very good condition with sharp detail. Only worn from 1911 to 1918. In 1918 they acquired the prefix Royal and the button pattern changed to a centaur. Scarce.
