A rare badge, much reproduced. This has two original loops, blackened brass (despite K&K claiming it was bronze), the tail does not join the main body and there is no strange lump to the reverse of the letters as found on the copies. 5th Battalion (Territorials) Chorley Detachment, The Loyal Regiment, Gilt Brass Arm Badge

Circa 2.8cms tall, two original lugs to the reverse and maker marked Thomas Fatonrini Ltd, Regent St, Birmingham. Gilt bright, a few slight marks otherwise in very good condition.

Introduced at regimental expense in place of cloth badges and authorised in January 1963.

First 1st Royal Surrey Militia White Metal Glengarry Badge, circa 1874 - 1881

Awarded the precedence 20 in 1855, the 1st Royal Surrey Regiment of Militia became the 3rd Battalion, the East Surrey Regiment in 1881. Circa 6.5cm tall with two original lugs to the reverse. Roman numerals XX for 20. Some misshaping to orb at top of crown otherwise in good condition with only minor wear to the silver plate on the highpoints.

A scarce die stamped white metal example with its original slider. In very good worn condition with sharp detail.

Worn by the Volunteer Battalions pre 1908, but continued to be worn by their successor Territorial Battalions in white metal until 1914. Given it has a slider this is most likely a post 1910 issue. Scarce.
