This has a lovely patina to it, die cast bronze with two original loops to the reverse and facing right. As worn from 1924 - 1958. A very pleasing example.

7th (Territorial Force) Battalion Pair of Officers Bronze OSD Collar Badges

Non matching, but similar. top suspension of one is unvoided. To the reverse slightly different die used for casting. Still the display together well and are of equal colour finish. Loops present and correct. Scarce.

The dog gauge badge, which resembled a stirrup was used to measure the size of dogs entering the Royal Forest to protect the Royal Deer.

According to the Museum, as cited by Churchill, they were unpopular with the Regiment and only worn for one year, 1881 - 1882, even though the pattern that replaced them was not sealed until 1887. Dorsetshire Regiment Officer's Pair of No 1 Dress Matched and Facing Silver Plated and Enamel Collar Badges - Marabout

Lime green enamel suggests post 1908 pattern, and the features of the sphinx suggest these were made by Gaunt. Some slight damage to the enamel on the left facing Sphinx (see photo) otherwise in good condition and worn until 1958 only. Two original silvered loops to reverse with cotter pins.
