Scarce WW1 era Postcard of Airship / Zeppelin
Most images of airships, especially Zeppelins tend to be artist impressions. This is a real photograph of one seen cruising above the rooftops. The card is printed in English, so this is possibly a Zeppelin. Postally unused. Stain to reverse. Strange lines run across the image, possibly from when it was developed. A simply magnificent Postally unused postcard in very good condition showing the Regimental Sergeant Major ( RSM )wearing the Fox in full cry cap badge on peaked cap, four chevrons and King's crown above, plus a row of medal ribbons, suggesting prior regular army service. Great self-publicity - everybody needs to fondly remember their RSM! Postally unused, taken by a Clapham Junction photographer . Pencil details on reverse confirming he was RSM of the London Regiment ( 1917 - 1919) and also a London County Council employee before serving, and worked in the teaching staff, Education Officer's Department.
