The first in a series of letters in small pocket sized folded card format from Field Marshal Montgomery to the 21st Army Group personnel dated March 1945 concerning non fraternisation. Some grubby marks and stains but intact with no rips. It concerns the conduct expected of British Troops on entering Germany. It is very much 'spoken' in Monty's own voice. A War Seal Disable Service 1914-15 ½d cinderella stamp from the First World War. Usage indicated a halfpenny donation to the War Seal Foundation, founded by Sir Oswald Stoll in 1915 to aid disabled servicemen by building them homes where they could be cared for and be integrated back into society. Postally unused, in very good condition bar a few random ink blots to the reverse. A photo of a grave stone in an unidentified Tweedmouth church graveyard (although I beleive they were methodists) commemorating Norman Elliot of the 2nd Royal Scots who fell in France aged 19 on the 12th October 1918 and who was interred at Philosophe Military Cemetery (in Pas de Calais, France). A large image with good detail. Mounted and removed from frame. Some marks and scratches but generally in good overall condition. Insignia as worn from 1887 to 1902. Image is circa 85cms by 23cms excluding the card mount. Pencil annotation to reverse but sadly not attributed. Scarce.
