A large die struck badge circa 64mm high by 42mm across. An exploding grenade with a towed field gun facing right over Southern Cross stars on the centre ball and surrounded by a wreath. At the base a scroll 'AUSTRALIA'. The blackened finish was a wartime finish (brass, coppered and oxidised) and places it from about 1915 onwards. wearing this badge in 1922. Malayan Federation Armoured Car Regiment Officer's cap badge, worn pre 1960
A scarce gilt and silver plated example on original loops. Exceptionally fine quality and delicate design, certainly not a mass produced item. Circa 3.6cms wide and 3.7cms tall. Crossed Kris on a horseshoe with mailed fist and engraved title scroll (there was an earlier pattern which lacked the horseshoe but was considered too delicate). Rare.

Scarce Federation of Malaya Home Guard / National Service Badge, circa 1948 - 1957
An other ranks die-cast in brass with two original lugs to the reverse. These were worn by the local HG villagers armed with shotguns etc, and the badge was worn on their everyday clothes.
