WW2 East African Reconnaissance Squadron EARS Cast Brass Cap Badge
A scarce and well made, attractive theatre made large and heavy cast cap badge to this colonial war raised unit which was formed in 1939 and took part in the first raid on El Wak on 18th June 1940 (Rosignoli, pages 32 and Plate 17 refer). Circa 4cm tall, blackened cast brass and of two part construction. Mercury right facing. Some twisting to the two original loop fixings otherwise in very good condition. I suspect only the officers wore collars. Scarce.
