Scarce early pre WW1 pattern white on red embroidered shoulder title / foreign service helmet pagri badge as worn during the Boer War, hessian backed and with " W. D. / 5 " stamp in black ink to the reverse. The title " Middlesex " on a scarlet ground. Circa 9 x 7.5 cms. Colour bright, some slight moth grazes and a few nips to edges otherwise in very good condition.

SWB officially impressed B255885 awarded to William Howard, who was entitled to a Mons Star Trio. Rare to find with original box of issue. Also a rare survivor who served all through the war until early 1919.

A good clean set of 1 red (for 1914) and 4 blue chevrons on khaki backing representing five years service overseas, making the recipient an old contemptible who survived through to the end of the war. Removed from uniform, a bit more sun faded than the one previously sold and brighter to reverse as one would expect, but in very good condition for age and scarce.
