A scarce Boer War celluloid tin button badge with clear photograph of 'General Hector MacDonald' in army uniform, the reverse with original paper backing with maker's details "The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, N.J. Patented July 17, 1894. April 14, 1896. July 21.1896." Very good clean condition, complete with pin fitting, minimal rust and foxing. Circa 22mm in diameter.
