Correctly impressed to:

"2447 Rfn. Tulman Rai, 2-7 G.R."

Short length of original ribbon in as found condition, medal is GVF, with a couple of slight edge knocks.

During the First World War (1914-18), the 2nd Battalion helped defend the Suez Canal in Egypt before deploying to Mesopotamia (now Iraq), where it was forced to surrender to the Ottoman ar...  read more

Mounted gilt device on silver plated button base, with fixed shank and backmarked Gaunt London. Circa 16mm in diameter. The Volunteers and Territorials wore reversed metal buttons, as found here. Worn circa 1883 - 1914. In very good condition. Scarce.

It is interesting to see the embossed rectangles to the reverse of the title scroll for placement of the lugs.
