A scarce and well made, attractive theatre made large and heavy cast cap badge to this colonial war raised unit which was formed in 1939 and took part in the first raid on El Wak on 18th June 1940 (Rosignoli, pages 32 and Plate 17 refer). A facing pair (slight colour / tone variation between the two so not an exact match). Each circa 3.2cm tall, both with silver lugs and maker marked JRG & S (JR Gaunt & Sons) and carry Birmingham hallmarks, one with letter G (1956) and the other K (1959). Sharp detail with no polishing. In very good condition. QEII crowns.
