Cold War British Troops in Berlin Woven Cloth Formation Shoulder Sign Flash Designation Patch Arm Badge, pre 1952

Bevo weave Embroidery red circle on a black backing, removed from uniform but in very good condition.

This first pattern formation badge was adopted shortly after the occupation of the British Zone of Berlin in 1945 by the 7th Armoured Division and attached troops for the Administrative HQ of the British sector. Legend has it that it was used to denote the city of Berlin, encircled by the Soviets occupying East Germany. The word 'Berlin' was added above the circle in 1952.
