Georgian / Napoleonic Era - 3rd (King's Own) Dragoons Officer's Button

Circa 25mm in diameter, fixed shank, maker's details (if any) no longer visible but other examples have been noted made by J. Tyndale of Birmingham. Flat open backed with a 3 over D within Greek key design. Made from a copper allow with traces of gilt finish still evident but mainly worn away. Most likely excavated. Some edge wear. Worn c1790-1818.

The 3rd Dragoons were previously named the King's Own Regiment of Dragoons between 1714-1751 and became Light Dragoons in 1818, this style is believed to be the second pattern to the unit.
