British Indian Army - 6th King Edward's Own Cavalry Gold Bullion Embroidered Cloth Panel

Most probably intended for use as the bullion ornament for embellishing a review order officer's dress pouch. Similar in design to that depicted in Ashok Nath's "Sowars and Sepoys in the Great War 1914-1918 for the Governor General's Body Guard (Fig 2). Scarlet background is correct facings colour for this Regiment. Battle honours exclude WW1 honours. EDVII cypher to centre. A rare pre WW1 survivor with no moth, damage or fading. The panel is circa 20cms by 12cms. I cannot imagine what such a piece would cost today to make. Complete with original paper backing. Would make a great display item. Or if you have a tired pouch that needs restoring! Stunning.

Amalgamated with the 7th Hariana Lancers in 1921 and became the 18th King Edward VII's Own Cavalry in 1936.

Will only post to a UK address.
