Victorian Militia Light Infantry Officers Cape Cloak Silver Plated Clasps & Chains
A fine silver plated example. Two circular two piece discs in silver showing silver strung bugles at centre with outer turned rope surrounds. At rear three loop attachments (one slightly bent over). Connected by a white metal chain of seven links and a hook fixed on one end. Worn below the high neck collar of the dark grey greatcoat , and perhaps also on a cape or cloak. According to Wood they were worn between 1864 and 1881 by 27th Northumberland Militia Light Infantry Officers. However, given it is a universal pattern it may also worn by other Militia Light Infantry Regiments up to 1881. In excellent condition and rare.
