WW1 Tyneside Irish (Northumberland Fusiliers) Gilding Metal Shoulder Title - Reid & Co

An original die struck gilding metal shoulder title central device (it would have had a single NF (for Northumberland Fusiliers )) and battalion number above in joined gilding metal numerals (24, 25, 26, 27 or 30). Two original copper loops to the reverse (east-west) and with maker details to the reverse of the frame of the harp: 'Reid & Sons, Newcastle-on-Tyne'. Locally made for the first batch of Tyneside Irish battalions in the early days of the First World War by the local goldsmiths, Reid & Sons (which can still in Newcastle to this day!).

Some traces of dried polish to reverse which helps show off this otherwise elusive naming. Correctly voided and with no damage or repairs. Rare.
