4th Welch Regiment Printed Cloth Regimental Designation Formation Sign Flash Badge - Sospan Fach - The red suacepan!

This is a attractive (regrettably single) 4th Battalion Welsh Regiment distinctive red saucepan overpainted or stenciled onto a printed formation sign. It is folded for wear but glued to a piece of card and mounted for display; easily removed. Very scarce.

The 4th Welch Regiment was a territorial unit based at Llanelli. It landed in Normandy in late June 1944 with the 160th infantry Brigade, as part of the 53rd Welsh Division. It saw service across western Europe, including taking part in Operation Market Garden and entered Germany in May 1945.

See BoBD (jon Mills) No 698 and Morris page 54 item 53 for 4th Welsh Regt regimental sign - a red saucepan picked out in black on a khaki rectangle.

Ex Professor Charles Thomas collection.
