9th Volunteer Battalion (VB) The Royal Scots White Metal Glengarry Badge, 1902- 1908
A die struck white metal cap badge star similar in size and design of that worn by officer's/WOs of the Scots Guards, but this one as noted in white metal. Circa 5cms across. With two original loops to the reverse (e-w). Attributed in two different Bosley auctions (in 2000 and 2012 respectively) as worn by the 9th Volunteer Battalion Royal Scots for the limited period only, 1902 - 1908. Only the fourth one I have encountered in 20 years (apart from smaller versions which are assumed to be collars to the same unit). Rare.
Final photo shows it alongside a Scots Guards enamel and silver plate forage cap star for comparison purposes only. The latter is for sale elsewhere on this site (now sold).
