Canadian Militia - 50th Gordon Highlanders Sporran Badge
A small die struck bronze sporran badge at circa 35mm tall. Two loops but one of these is a contemporary replacement. Most probably an officer's issue given the OSD finish. I believe other ranks wore this in white metal. Scarce.
The 50th Gordon Highlanders were a pre-1914 militia unit formed in Victoria British Columbia (Sir Arthur Currie helped raise the regiment in 1913).
The 50th Regiment contributed volunteers to the 7th Bn and the 16th Canadian Scottish Bn, among others at the outbreak of the war. The 50th was amalgamated with the 88th Regiment, (Victoria Fusiliers) to form the Canadian Scottish in 1920.
