Pre WW1 Fife & Forfar Yeomanry Gilding Metal Brass Cap Badge
In good worn condition complete with full helmet plume (correctly pointing downwards on the GM examples). Good crimp to slider. Shaped to cap.
A scarce badge which has defied definitive identification often mistakenly thought to be unique to the 14th battalion Black Watch in WW1, or as a sergeant's badge, or an officer's slidered badge polished or a WW1 ecomony badge). However the consensus determined from photographic evidence on the BMBF is that it is a pre-war territorial badge worn by the F&F Yeomen from 1908 onwards on service dress khaki uniform, the white metal badge being retained for wear on the coloured peaked cap. In any event, it is a much scarcer badge than that encountered in white metal.
