White metal shoulder titles, a matched pair in the form of the curved initials of the unit, surmounted by a '1'. With two original loops to the reverse of each and both maker marked JR Gaunt London. UK made. Most probably officers' issue. Scarce. Worn 1909 - 1917 only.

The United Provinces Light Horse was an auxiliary unit formed in 1904 from the amalgamation of the Allahabad Light Horse, the Cawnpore Light Horse, the Gorakhpur Light Horse, the Ghazipur Light Horse and the Oudh Light Horse. The 1st Regiment United Provinces Horse was formed in 1909, and became the 7th (Southern Regiment) United Provinces Horse in 1917.
