Georgian Napoleonic Royal York Rangers Officers Gilt Tunic Button
Circa 15mm in diameter, within title, a Crown, fixed shank, domed and open backed, maker marked C. Jennens, London. In superb condition with bright gilt.
Worn circa 1807 - 1814. Entitled to the battle honours Martinique 1809 and Guadeloupe 1810.
The Royal York Rangers was formed in 1807 from condemned men, mostly British and Irish prisoners desperate to escape hanging. Despite this it was an extremely effective regiment. The unit served in the West Indies and Canada before disbandment in 1814.
