WW1 1915 WAPD Borough of Blackburn (Lancashire) Special Constable Constabulary Police Mufti Buttonhole Lapel Badge

In very good condition but sadly missing its pin (fittings still present so a relatively easy repair for a jeweller), with no damage to enamel and gilt bright. Maker marked with issue number "44" to reverse. Apart from the pin a stunning and rare example. The book referred to below does not know what the initials WAPD stand for but I suspect it is probably related to female special constables. Any information welcome.
