Indian Princely State Forces (Jaipur) - Sawai Man Guards Brass Cap Badge
A thinly die struck brass cap badge, with two original loops, as worn circa 1935-1950. Circa 4.6cms across and mounted on a red corrugated card cut to shape which I have not attempted to remove.
The unit was a very smart looking one, trained along the lines of the British Brigade of Guards and Instructors from the Brigade of Guards were engaged to train the officers and men. In WW2 the Regiment fought in the Middle East and North Africa and then in Italy and provided the garrison for Hong Kong in 1945.
